I didn't mean to accuse you of being a typical gamer, man. Sorry to have been a jerk like that. What I meant to say is that there appears to be two radically different mindsets going into this new generation: the mindset of "lets-sell-them-a-pc-to-hook-up-to-their-tv" and the mindset of "let's-make-a-console-for-video-games".

I don't think that the Revolution will sell as many units as the other two systems, and I definitely agree that your basic "new gamer" (I can call them this, as I still have my original Pong in my attic) is going to laugh at the Revolution. But I think there's a lot of die-hard Nintendo fans who will buy it.

I guess what I'm saying is the the Rev might not sell a lot of units, but it might not need to in order to be a success. If Sony is really going to do half of what they say (and I'll believe it when I see it, especially this "Cell" processor that'll supposedly be a bajillion times faster than our processors) and Microsoft is really going to make a Windows Media Center for your living room, then they'll lose money on every console they sell. Nintendo, on the other hand, could make money on each one due to less technically advanced (and thus cheaper) components. The graphics won't be as pretty, but the games will be fun and some of us old farts won't care about the graphics anyway.

I guess I'm saying that I know what you're suggesting is a possibility, but I really hope fun wins out over flashy technology. If it doesn't, I'll just break out my Super Nintendo....

P.S.: As far as the controllers go, make sure you remember that they've designed it so small so that it can fit into custom and/or more standard controller housings....

I recently have lost all interest in video games myself. I myself have had a NES, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Xbox. Handhelds include Gameboy, Sega Nomad, Gameboy Color, Advance and Advance SP, and DS. (In order) As you can see Sony is not anywhere in there.

I will go out and say Sony has had some amazing games such as Final Fantasy VII, DBZ, GTA's, and many other RPG's. Seeing as I love RPG's you would think I would have bought a PS2 by now =/ Blood and gore just don't do it for me. If I wanted to see that I would just follow the techs in the ER room...

The next Gen consoles do not interest me at all that much to be honest. I mean my PC can push those graphics and then some. If I was to shell out cash for a 360 I would see it as a waste. Oblivion looks amazing, but 10 bucks cheaper for a PC version that will look equally if not better on my pc. PD Zero? Im tired of first person shooters. The day they make a shooter thats as intense and with destructable environments/ realistic features is the day I get excited about FPS again. Now im not saying I won't buy one of the Next Gen consoles, but the day a few games come out that I want to play then there is that possibility. Right now my only XBOX games are Halo 1 and 2, DDR (hahaha), and Shenmue II.

The next Nintendo console coming out will have to show me the games and overall fun factor. Im not necessarily a graphics guy, it helps, but im more of a gameplay mechanics. Its all about the Super Smash bros, Metroid, Zelda, and many other quirky games Nintendo can come up with.

For instance I recently picked up Castlevania Dawn of Sorrows, and Trauma Center under the knife (For the DS). I must say Castlevania is a very addicting little gem I have enjoyed. Its simplistic and yet you can sit and play it for hours on end because of the RPG elements. The touch screen seems out of place, but the Dual Screen shines showing you a EXTREMELY helpful map and your Stats and enemy information. Then you move onto Trauma Center and you see what the DS is capable of in terms of mechanics. When you play it people come around and say "wow whats that?". I showed it to my GF and family and they immediately picked it up, and my family has NEVER played any games whatsoever. If you have a DS and are wondering where the games have been, well I would suggest you look into both of those.

Either way the next gen graphics do not interest me, PC's will always do it better. Most games eventually come to PC eventually and I can be a patient boy =) Lets hope for some inovation and new ideas that can push the absent fun factor.

I have to say that loco sums up a lot of my feelings. I hear my friends argue over which system will have better graphics and be more powerful, and I honestly don't care. I wasn't planning on buying any until I saw stuff on the Revolution, and I caught myself saying "Damn that looks like fun."

If anyone wants to know why I'm so excited about the controller, here's the link:http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143782

More importantly was the reviews on how great the controller was used. I am not a fan boy it just whatever tickles my fancy for the time being.

Im more on RPG and story type games. For instance, Indigo Prophecy looks like it has a great story and told from different angles.

Im more of a rental guy from now on, most games I know I can beat in a setting or two, get the story or fun from it, and bam done. Only game I can see myself buying anytime soon will be the Zelda TP.

Right on Doom its all about the FUN!

I agree totally about how it was used! Did you read about the flying game? And how they used it to play Metroid? I think it looks awesome. And if I can play my old games on it too, well, rock on.

Oh, and I have to admit that I'm a cheapskate (I have to be, I'm getting married this weekend), so the 200-250 price tag looks a hell of a lot better than 450....

Ain't no damn way I'm paying 450 bucks for a game system. I can buy a better computer for that.

Thats why PC > Systems lol. I mean in all honesty there is hardly a way they could make a CONSOLE that can do more than powerful PC's. I mean look at all the crap the 360 is going to have. If it was truely more powerful than my PC they would be losing a huge profit selling them for only 400 bucks. I dont want another damn PC I want fun and unique experience that I can bust out with friends and family. Sony and Xbox's blood and gore /fps eventually come to PC anyways.

Yeah I still have my old school systems and games. They are up in the attic safely stored for future generations to look back on what I played growin up.

The first Zelda was the first game I ever owned for my nes. My brother got Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt, and I got Zelda. I played it nonstop. I didn't like the second Zelda so I didn't buy it, but I did (and still do) own Link to the Past (which is still my favorite) and I played through Ocarina of Time (which was amazing too). Majora's Mask was a blast as well. I haven't gotten to spend much time with Wind Waker, but I've loved what I've played. And I never got a GBA so I haven't played those, though I hear they're great. Zelda and Mario are, in my opinion, the best game franchises of all time.

I remember playing the original Zelda games when I was like...5. When I tried to play Ocarina of Time... I just hated the N64 so much that I couldn't bring myself to enjoy the game.

well, so they might not be saying link's the twilight princess, but the title of the game usually talks about what sort of item or person the game revolves around, and link usually has some sort of connection to the title, hence the assumption that link was the tp. and whats with the age: 14 thing?
